Putin visit to India: India and Russia concluded 28 agreements UPSC trending dose

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Russin President Vladimir Putin on his brief visit to India.PM Narendra Modi and Russian Vladimir President Putin held the 21st annual summit. it’s a reflection of the latter’s commitment to ties with India. This is Mr. Putin’s second overseas trip since the Covid pandemic started.

Covid management: The Prime Minister pointed out that the two countries cooperated during the Covid pandemic as well, in the field of vaccine and humanitarian support. “You should be credited for the strategic partnership between our countries for the three decades,” PM Modi said during the summit that took place hours after the foreign and defense ministers of the two countries held their inaugural ”2+2” dialogue to widen the ambit of discussions on strategically important issues.
  2. AK-203 Rifles Both the nations inked a deal for joint production of over six lakh AK-203 rifles in Uttar Pradesh. The two nations today also signed an agreement for the procurement of 6,01,427 assault rifles AK-203 through Indo-Russia Rifles Pvt Ltd, under the military-technical cooperation arrangement for 2021-31
  3. Economy : The Prime Minister said the two countries are adopting a long-term vision to deepen the relationship in the economic sector and have set a target of $30 billion in trade and $50 billion in investment by 2025.
  4. S400 missile: India has also begun to receive S-400 missiles from Russia this month.
  5. Terrorism: We are certainly worried about everything related to terrorism and the fight against it. Terrorism is also a fight against drug trafficking and organized crime. In this regard, we cannot but worry about the situation and how it is developing in Afghanistan,” Putin said at the 21st India- Russia Annual Summit.
